About Samira 13

Samira 13 jewelry was launched in 2008 by Los Angeles-based designer/ sculptor Samira Sizdahkhani. Creatively inspired by themes of primitivism, monasticism, and ancient Persian nomadic cultures, Samira combines unorthodox materials such as distressed metals, tattered silks, raw leathers, and uncut, un-polished diamonds in her uniquely exquisite designs.

Born into a fashion family, Samira began designing at age 12 in the workshop of her mother’s renowned D.C. designer boutique, Tabandeh. Immediately after completing university, while briefly working as a fashion stylist in L.A., Samira’s love affair with Tahitian South Sea pearls was ignited.

Envisioning designs to fulfill her desire for versatility as well as a balance between casual and formal, Samira began exploring the mythical significance of the Tahitian Black Pearl. Throughout various cultures, this increasingly rare form of pearl has represented fertility and life cycles. In ancient times it also symbolized a universal guiding spirit on the path toward enlightenment.

This harmony found in disparate elements has become the cornerstone of the Samira 13 collection. Continually exploring the tension between refined vs. rough and old mixed with modern, Samira hand selects each pearl and stone used in every piece of jewelry she creates. This synthesis of talent and devotion imbues each of her custom made designs with both beauty and meaning.
